This post is a continuation of my installation of PeopleSoft on a Windows 8 Beta installation. Previously, I installed the Oracle database software. This post is about installing the PeopleTools CD onto the machine.
First, downloaded or transfered the tools to the machine. They should come in three zip files one for each disk. I like to put them in a folder called install.
Next, unzip each one.
You need to make sure that the folders are beside each other in the same folder and that they are labeled Disk1, Disk2, and Disk3. That way you don’t have to select the location or “change disks”.
Then, run the Step program from the Disk1 directory:
That starts the wizard…
Accept the license…
Enter the license code…
Choose unicode or non-unicode…
Select all products…
Select the install path…
I typically ignore this step because I am just experimenting. For a permanent installation, you probably want to provide the Oracle Support info:
Select the location of the Oracle Database software. You want the bin directory inside the Oracle folder that you installed with the previous post.
Selecting yes here will put App Designer, Config Manager, and Data Mover in your Start menu:
This is the location in the start menu:
I accept the defaults for the EM Hub. It’s easy to change later.
It’s easiest to install all of the product features even if you aren’t going to use them all.
Now, we get a summary of what we selected…
Then, it installs…
After a while, it should be done…
Installing the Tools Patch
What we have installed so far is just the base 8.52 version. If we install the “09” patch, that will bring us to version 8.52.09.
Running the installer…
I won’t go through all of these screen shots now. Just select the same options as you did before. That will install on top of the original PeopleTools home directory. That will replace any of the files that need patching.
